The Kidspace Program at MASS MoCA

Seton Melvin serves as the director of the Brain Donor Program at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, a role she has held for more than two decades. Outside of her work, Seton Melvin supports cultural organizations that include the Williams College Museum of Art and the Massachusetts Museum of Modern Art.

Also known as MASS MoCA, the Massachusetts Museum of Modern Art has helped the public enjoy modern forms of art that range from music and dance to photography, theater, and sculpture. The organization, which traces its roots to the late 1700s, also offers a variety of educational initiatives that include the Kidspace program.

A world renowned art gallery and studio, Kidspace collaborates with professional artists to present exhibitions and educational experiences for children. In addition to focusing on contemporary social issues, the program helps children expand their cultural understanding of art and artistic methods. To date, artists featured by the program have included Long-Bin Chen, Tim Rollins, and Gajin Fujita, among others. Kidspace has been honored with a Distinguished Community Arts Collaborative Award from the Massachusetts Alliance for Arts Education.
